The conduct of the West African Senior School Examination for School Candidates, 2020 has commenced smoothly across the country. A total of 375, 737 candidates are taking part in this year’s examination. The examination started on Monday, July 20th, 2020 with Visual Art Project work. The administration of the theory papers began on Monday 3rd August, 2020. All the COVID-19 safety protocols were being adhered to at the various examination centres. This was evident when WAEC officials went on a routine inspection to some selected schools across the country as the candidates were writing their first Core paper (Integrated Science).
Prior to the administration of the Integrated Science paper, there was the circulation of fake question papers on social media engineered by rogue website operators and WhatsApp groups meant to lead candidates astray and lure them to pay monies to these individuals. The Council immediately released a statement debunking the rumour. The smooth administration of the paper was an attestation to the Council’s earlier statement that the papers in circulation were fake.
The Council is however urging all candidates to be vigilant and not be a victim of these scammers and to disregard claims that the Council substituted the papers after rumours of the alleged leakage had been made public.
Meanwhile, the Council is working with all the security agencies in the country to clamp down on such perpetrators whose activities tarnish the image of the Council.
The Council wishes all candidates writing the WASSCE (SC), 2020 success in the ongoing examination.
